We work together to empower educators to be reflective practitioners, with high standards of practice understanding how their decisions impact the classroom environment.

Our partnership schools base their practice on annual whole school scans alongside all staff gaining access to be trained at Level I (over a year or more) to build consistency in practice through a common language and reflective practitioners in daily practice.

When teachers have the knowledge they need, classrooms are places of focused learning.

Whole school scans provide the data to inform strategic thinking for long term sustainable cultural change.

MY OFFERINGS

Whole School Scan

Are you struggling to quantify the essence of your school environment into data that can be used to review and inform strategic decision-making?

In the Whole School Scan we do a one-to-one 30-minute classroom observation with each teacher. These observations are there to identify the impact of the teaching on the learning environment.

We then share the data from each classroom observation with the individual teacher in a 20-minute reflection session, to develop awareness and build a shared language around a culture of learning.

From there, all data are imported into the live online database. No individual teacher can be identified in these reports. A set of school based data reports are produced, which provide the school with a clear picture of the impact of teaching and learning across the whole school and the classroom environments.

The data reports specify areas of strength, graphs to monitor growth, and access to one of our 4D Data consultants to support the development of a plan to utilise the data effectively.

Approximately 6 observations and reflection sessions a day.

Outcomes

Following the scan, school leaders will have:

  • clear and precise evidence on what is occurring in their classrooms; and

  • access to data, which will inform where you’ve been and where you can go.

From here, schools can engage Caroline to undertake a Whole School Plan with them using the data coach cycles. See below for details.

Perfect for

This is perfect for any school who values making data informed decisions to guide change and maintain the strengths of school capability through measurable data sets.

Data Meetings (Planning)

Now that you have the data, on how your school is working, let us help you understand that data so that you can create a plan to move forward.

In the Whole School Plan we connect leadership teams with one of our data consultants. There are options for connecting with our Data Consultants for a detailed Data Presentation to use with staff and follow up meetings to set Pulse Checks. These occur virtually.

Your meeting is a 45-minute to 1.5 hour summary of the week on campus with two recommendations for discussion. We will help you to:

  • understand our data sets (they look complex but there is an ease to following them);

  • make sense of how this can be used to inform your school’s strategic directions; and

  • be integral in a review cycle based on the recommendations discussed in the meeting.

From this meeting, you will have the foundation data sets, two key recommendations and a PowerPoint to share these findings with your staff.

Finally you have access to virtual meetings at any time to track, discuss and set targets using our experienced data consultants.

Perfect for

For schools who have completed a Whole School Scan.

Investment

Whole School Scan includes the fee of 1800 to 2400 + GST for our larger schools.

Post scan bookings with a data consultants are billed at $320 + GST a session for 45 minutes.

Schools who run their own internal schools cans can contact Dr Blackley to access our Data consultants to support in actively understanding and making the most out of their data sets. caroline@carolineblackley.com

4D Coaching cycles

At any time, if you would like to build the confidence and capability of your own staff observing one another, then the chance to work alongside our Education Consultants is for you!

Our Education Consultants come into your school, and work side by side with Level I or Level II accredited observers to improve their skills in observations and reflection sessions.

We do a 30-minute 1: 2 observation, a reflection session where we provide feedback to the observer (who we are observing!), and then a 30-minute feedback session on their data collection and coaching skills.

This process takes about 90-minutes per observer, and we do a maximum of 4 of these sessions a day.

Learning Objectives

  • How to be a more effective classroom observer and coach

  • Builds capacity within the schools for coaching cycles

Perfect for

This is perfect for any school who appreciates that change starts through conversation, and who wants to build a team that can have productive conversations based on evidence-based practices that support the development of a culture of learning.

What people say

What people say

  • The impact of the 4D framework on our teachers as individuals, and on our whole school, has been multifaceted and profound.

This is the single most powerful professional development a teacher can do. It brings consciousness to what is often unconscious decision making by teachers, and the end result for us has been happier, more effective teachers, who then create powerful learning environments.

I have witnessed a shift in school culture since we started implementing the 4D framework. It has created collective efficacy between all members of school staff, and driven significant improvement.

Halena Hall, Deputy Principal, Moura State High

  • The Four Dimensions PD reminded me that we often spend all of our energy and time on the negative behaviour in our classrooms, yet when there is a focus on the positive interactions that occur it can lead to a better learning environment for all.

It was refreshing to hear from someone who was positive, engaging and action focused. It is not a Band-Aid solution where we are consistently addressing the same behaviours; rather, it leads to permanent behaviour and culture change within the classroom and school. I am excited to see the school that we can become when we all focus on positivity.

Eva Luque, Head of Department Science, Kirwan State High School

  • Before our 4D journey we had okay behaviour process in place but something was missing - we weren’t cohesive as a school. Everyone had different expectations of what the rules meant and how children should behave. We were doing all the things expected of us but we weren’t making the gains that we should have.

4D has given our staff a shared language, and inspired us to create different processes that focus on the curriculum.

With 4D we are making better positive connections with our students, and teachers can see how they can improve each term. As a whole staff we focus on what we need the most improvement in., and we are in it together.

4D has made it easier to celebrate the good stuff that we are doing.

Fiona Connor, Principal, Alligator Creek State School

  • At Kenmore SHS we have a long-held belief that a common, consistent and evidence-based approach to classrooms is vital to ensuring successful learning outcomes for all students. Coupled with this, we want all teachers, across all disciplines, to know they are valued for their uniqueness and individual styles of teaching and learning.

As such, 4D has been a natural and welcomed addition to our school’s professional development package and pedagogical framework since 2016.

4D has been central to our working in transforming classroom climates and supporting teacher wellbeing. As a collective team, the staff have increased their discussions about making effective classroom decisions to create positive classroom environments. Through our successful coaching model, 4D observations are available to every teacher in the school. As a result, we see a greater number of classroom conversations about learning and a greater collective efficacy amongst our team of teachers.

4D has been powerful PD for new and experienced teachers alike, and a impactful framework for our school.

Sally Hawkes, Acting Principal, Kenmore State High School

  • We were looking for an external person to profile our teachers and provide non-judgemental feedback. 4D was perfect for us.

Caroline and her team bring years of experience and a calm, non-judgemental manner to helping staff to improve their teaching practice.

We chose to train our staff in 4D because it provides a consistent language, a consistent approach for our whole school to keep improving, and ongoing training, materials and access to support.

Chris Pocock, Principal, Spinifex State College - Junior Campus
